Acceptable Use Policy

This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses demobolt. It exists for one reason: a demobolt demo is a copy of a real screen, published on the open internet, and that combination can do real harm if it is misused.

Breaking this policy is a breach of the Terms, and we may remove content or suspend an account for it.

Capture only what you are allowed to capture

You must not use demobolt to record or publish:

  • a website, app or system you do not own and do not have permission to record;
  • other people’s personal data where you have no lawful basis to collect, use or publish it;
  • anything covered by a confidentiality agreement, an NDA, or a duty of professional secrecy, unless you are permitted to share it;
  • another company’s branding, screens or copy in a way that infringes their intellectual property or passes their product off as yours;
  • regulated data the Service is not built for — health information under HIPAA, payment card data, government identification numbers, financial credentials, biometric identifiers, special categories of personal data under the GDPR, or anything about children.

Before publishing, look at what is actually on the screen you captured. Use the editing, replacement and blurring tools to take out or mask anything that should not be public. Once a demo is published, anyone with the link can see it.

Do not publish harmful content

You must not publish through demobolt anything that:

  • breaks any law that applies to you or to your viewers;
  • is defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or promotes violence;
  • harasses, bullies, intimidates, humiliates or invades the privacy of any person;
  • impersonates a person or company, or misrepresents who you are or who you are affiliated with;
  • is designed to deceive — fake offers, fake reviews, fraudulent claims, or a demo built to make a product look like it does something it does not;
  • contains malware, phishing, or anything intended to compromise a viewer’s device or accounts;
  • is sexually explicit, or promotes gambling or illegal drugs.

Do not misuse the Service itself

You must not:

  • copy, resell, rent or sub-licence the Service, or offer it to others as your own;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source of the Service;
  • work around usage limits, plan restrictions, paywalls or technical controls;
  • scrape the Service, or use bots and automated tools against it beyond our documented API;
  • probe, scan or penetration-test our systems without our written permission — ask first and we will usually say yes;
  • put an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or do anything that degrades the Service for other customers;
  • use the Service to build, benchmark or market a competing product;
  • share your account credentials with anyone outside your workspace.

Reporting a problem

If you think a demo published through demobolt breaks this policy, infringes your rights, or exposes personal data that should not be public, tell us at hello@demobolt.io. Include the demo link, what the problem is, and how to reach you. We review the reports we receive.

Security problems in demobolt itself go to the same address. Report them to us before disclosing them anywhere else, and we will not pursue you for a good-faith report.

How we enforce this

We do not monitor what customers capture or publish, and we are under no obligation to. When something is reported to us, or we notice it ourselves, we may remove or disable content, suspend or close an account, and tell the authorities where the law requires it.

How we respond is our decision, taken case by case. We may ask you to fix something, or — where content is illegal, puts someone’s safety or privacy at real risk, or attacks our systems — remove it and close the account immediately and without notice. We will tell you why where we can. Repeat infringement ends an account. Choosing a lighter response once does not commit us to it again.

We may update this policy as the product and the risks change. The new version is posted here with a new date at the top.
